Charles Lindberg

On August 31, 1974, Charles Lindberg was buried on the grounds of the Palapala Ho’omau Church in Kipahulu, Maui. The hero, who was the first human to fly alone nonstop from the United States to Europe, weathered a successful but stormy life. His son, Charles August Lindberg II was kidnapped and murdered. Lindberg was accused of Nazi sympathies during World War II. And after his death, it was discovered that he had had children by mistresses in Europe, three children proven, four unsubstantiated. Lindberg’s grave can be visited at the church today. Read more
