What makes British cattle so sickly and why should Maui care?
In a word (or two), Heathrow Airport (http://www.slate.com/id/2174936/). Heathrow Airport is the busiest international airport in the world and that brings in all sorts of disease. On Maui, we might call them alien species.

We on Maui should care because Britain is an island, too, which has not taken great pains to protect itself, choosing commerce over intelligence. “Improvements” like a longer runway at the Kahului airport, or the Superferry, are not improvements at all. They are easy ways for bad things to get here, while putting money in the pockets of a few individuals, who are obviously political bedmates of the governor–a scary mental picture, I know.
