HAWAIIAN WORD OF THE DAY - WAIWAI:  Wealth, wealthy
HAWAIIAN PROVERB OF THE DAY - “The rats joyously eat their fill, leaving many skins.”

October 6, 2003: David Cole and Maui Land & Pine reach an agreement that gives Cole the option to purchase up to 200,000 shares of stock for the current exercise price of $19.70 per share. (The full agreement can be read at: http://www.socratek.com/Agreement-Details.asp?num=292315)

The market price as of October 3, 2003 for ML&P stock was $28.55 per share. This means Cole could purchase 200,000 shares for $19.70 a share, then sell it for the going market price, pocketing $1.77 million. To put this into perspective, this one stock deal would earn for Cole what the average Maui family (income of $60,000) would take 29 years to earn.

What’s the Harm?

Another group of Mauians keep themselves busy destroying what they found when they arrived. This group is better than the idle-scarecrows, because it is better to act than to vegetate. However, unenlightened action has its own damning karma.
