5 Stars for the MACC

The MACC. What a wonderful showcase for the arts and a great asset for the county. My first experience at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center was a terrific outdoor concert featuring Bonnie Raitt. Good music under the stars in the midst of happy fans–great fun by anyone’s standards. The MACC brings theatrical productions and internationally known performers live in concert to the island and also supports and features local talent. Music, dance, comedy and drama all find a home here.

Don’t forget the Wednesday night Candlelight Cafe and Cinema movies in the Castle Theater–always an intriguing mix of films seldom seen in local theaters–an evening enhanced by the Candlelight Cafe. Friends meet, enjoy good food, drink and conversation al fresco before and after the show under the evening sky, adding a special social flavor to the evening. The First Light series of movies kicks off the winter holiday season, and the Wailea Film Festival in June provides even more exceptional cinematic experiences for movie fans.

There are also outstanding art and educational exhibits in the Schaefer International Gallery, dance, benefits, classes and special events throughout the year making the MACC a Maui treasure. Enjoy it–there’s something for everyone.

Keep it entertaining. Keep it inspiring. Keep it Maui.
