HAWAIIAN WORD OF THE DAY - Hana: Work
HAWAIIAN PROVERB OF THE DAY - “A’ohe hana nui ka alu’ia.” No task is too big when done together.
November 11, 1950: Hana airport opens. The first plane to land is a Trans-Pacific Alohaliner. Many people assume that this means airplanes could now land at Hana on Maui. In truth, airplanes had been flying to Hana since the late teens, perhaps as early as 1917.The difference, of course, was the size of the planes. Until the airport was constructed, only small, light planes could land on dirt or grassy fields.
