HAWAIIAN WORD OF THE DAY — Kaua kuloko: Civil WarApril 29th, 1865: Three weeks after the end of Civil War, the news of its completion finally reaches Hawaii on the steamer Archer. We have little to say about this except that the mirage of freedom for blacks at the end of the Civil War predates the U.S. overthrow of the Hawaiian nation by 30 years.
