When I was a student in Pondicherry, India, there was a teacher who said: “We each get what we deserve. Usually, we also get what we resemble.”
I have found that to be fair, equitable and true. But I have also noticed how nervous others become when I mention this. Quite telling, I suppose. I mention this, because I have come to the conclusion that America deserves John McCain. He resembles more the 60 million people of Appalachia, and the deep Southerner with his traditions and prejudices.
