HAWAIIAN PROVERB OF THE DAY

HAOLE SAYING OF THE DAY —
“Some weasel took the cork out of my lunch.” - W.C.Fields
December 5th, 2008:
The recent bruhaha over Wayne Nishiki is interesting. Wayne was a voice of reason – which translated into slowing developers down – when he was on the council the first time. I was happy to hear he had been re-elected. That said, he is embarrassing, too.
In pre-election debates, the answer I most often heard him give to questions about community issues went something along the lines of, “Well, I’m a human being. You’re a human being. We’re all human beings. We’ve got to work together.” Pretty thought, but unhelpful when trying to invent solutions to hard problems.
This loan mess is also indicative of his inability to handle or obey somewhat simple regulations. Give how complex our problems on Maui are, such lack of ability forebodes ill for long-term solutions, at least from Nishiki.
Anything that anyone can do to stop Everett Dowling is good, by definition. I just wish that something so helpful didn’t come in such an incompetent package as Wayne Nishiki.
