December 16th, 1924: What was called the “new extension” of the “Maui Belt Road,” opens, connecting Keanae Peninsula with Hana, making the “Road to Hana” a reality.

The 52-mile journey from Kahului to Hana has 59 bridges, 46 of them are single lane. There are more than 600 curves to negotiate. Each year approximately 1.2 million visitors travel some portion of it. We estimate that 10% of them throw up at some time during the route. Just a guess.
