Chinese New Year of the OxYEAR OF THE OX: According to legend, in ancient times, Buddha asked all the animals to meet him on Chinese New Year. Twelve came, and Buddha named a year after each one. He announced that the people born in each animal’s year would have some of that animal’s personality traits. Those born in Ox years tend to  be stable, fearless, obstinate, hard-working and friendly. Jack Nicholson, Jane Fonda, Walt Disney, Anthony Hopkins, George Clooney and Barack Obama  were all born in the Year of the Ox.

Chinese Lunar New Year is the most important of the traditional Chinese holidays.  The festival traditionally begins on the first day of the first lunar month (the new moon), in the Chinese calendar and ends on the 15th day, called Lantern Festival.
